8 days into RFL diet and I've just become sick...

Category 1 Dieter.

Hoping somebody more experienced can help me.

I have 4 days to go on the diet and I'm totally stoked with the results so far but have picked up a cold. Sore throat, runny nose and drowsy. I'm more than happy to keep going until the end, as long as this won't impact the rest of the diet in some major way. For instance I haven't been able to exercise this week since picking it up. So does anybody know if I'm okay to carry on?

Cheers.

Well the training part (maintaining intensity) is absolutely essential as a Cat1. If you skip that, stop RFL and stop any deficit.

Basically this.

I have found "mega-dosing" vitamin c and taking glutamine has helped me ward off a few bouts of cold/flu.

Thanks guys,

Will go at an obscene time in the morning to avoid others then.

I might be a little against the grain here but since it is only 4 days you could just battle through it and get a solid workout in (volume should be reduced anyway)....Of course I don't know how sick you're. If it is just a cold I would just keep pressing forward. Anything more serious I would probably just move to maintenance and when you get cleared up give it another go.

I lose my appetite when I get sick so last year when I was on RFL and got the flu, the weight continued to come off!

I don't see the humor in recommending a lethal dosage of vitamin c to someone.

Do NOT take 6000 mg of vitamin c. That is flirting with deadly levels of toxicity

6000 mg isn't really a lethal dosage. Vitamin C has a fairly low toxicity. The toxic dosage in rats is almost 12 grams per kg of bodyweight. Obviously humans aren't rats, but assuming a similar toxicity for humans, that would mean an average person could take almost 120 grams of vitamin c without dying.

So 6 grams of vitamin c isn't going to kill a person. Sure, you'll get diarrhea at that dose but you won't die unless you've got other problems. Not that I'm advocating taking that much. I'd not really go any higher than 2 grams if it were me. Even 2 grams is probably going to give you some stomach issues.

thanks, you are right. I didn't know this. 2000mg is the recommended max intake. I was taking 4 to 6000mg on/off for months without any issues tho. But I will limit my intake to 2000mg.
