I think the reality is that for folks that are not lean enough for UD2.0 or don't want such an extreme approach, a 3 day refeed is only going to drag the diet out and probably make you gain back some fat, unless in extreme circumstances where you're doing UD2.0 style depletion or your diet is just celery (..in which case, why not UD2.0?!).

The hormonal and metabolic problems really aren't too severe for folk above and around cat 2, which can easily be remedied by regular diet breaks. I think the benefits of short refeeds on performance in the gym and the break you get to eat a bunch of bagels without getting fat more than justify their usage.
