Default avoiding old guy moobs

I notice as a lot male lifters get older, their pecs start to look saggy even while the rest of their physiques still look tight. Even on lean guys, the muscle goes from being a nice firm slab, to a weird pouch and with the nipple pointing at the floor.

Is this purely a gravity thing, or do hormones come into play?

As a 48 year old, it worth considering doing less chest work (or maybe higher reps with less weight) so that my pecs don't turn into moobs in a few years?

Your pecs aren't going to turn into moobs in a direct/literal sense, though I understand what you're saying.

If anything, maybe try to emphasize incline variants more than flat/decline. Then try to stay lean, maintain healthy hormone levels, and do your best to avoid any of the probably hundreds of endocrine disruptors out there.

Even then, it's debatable how far that will take you. How much is this preventable versus just being a natural consequence of aging?
