This sport use to be more popular or I wathed more TV as a kid and I always wondered why they don't just build an ice rink in a shape of number 8 and have both turns... Perhaps I am missing something?

Inline skating was huge in the 90's and then died in the US. A variety of things contributed to it's demise in my opinion. It's much bigger internationally.

It's also a sport ruled by tradition and that tradition means a standard shaped track.

Part II couldn't be more timely.

Realized recently that my husband and I have bikes completely ill-suited for how we like to / tend to ride and have been looking into getting new ones *or* upgrading our present frames (which probably isn't going to happen).

But good equipment can't make up for sucking up the place either, so we're working on that too. ;P
