Default After Beta-Alanine Initial Supplementation

You mention in the book the application of Beta-Alanine and suggest a Beta-Alanine dosing for the first month of use.

After the first month of dosing, when skeletal muscle carnosine stores have increased, do you still continue to use Beta Alanine in the suggested way? Or is there a maintenance dosing protocol?

btw lial

Do you have a source for the 4x/day dosing recommendation?

I downloaded this paper last night, since it seemed to be what the others were referencing:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16554972

The absorption of orally supplied beta-alanine and its effect on muscle carnosine synthesis in human vastus lateralis.

Looking at the full paper, it seems like their main rationale for the dosing was to prevent the tingling/flushing effect, since anything over 10mg/kg seemed to cause it and they had a few subjects refuse the dose.

They also had some worries about taurine depletion in cardiac tissues with elevated carnosine levels, but that appears to be based on mega-dosing in chickens (156g IIRC).

But besides that, are you aware of anything showing badness if, say, you just didn't want to (or couldn't) do the 4x/daily dosing? If it's just a matter of dealing with some flushing, I can handle that.

I recall one of the papers mentioning explicitly that they choose multiple doses to maintain beta-alanine plasma levels at a more stable level but now I can't figure out which one in my files was it.

So I guess it's assumed to continuously dose 4x a day?
