Default RFL to transition to Ketosis?

I've done RFL before for just under two weeks, to great success. I've read a bunch of Lyle's books, and have found each fascinating and useful.

I'm wanting to try a ketosis diet, whilst simultaneously cutting. I had the idea to begin with 10 days of RFL and, instead of a 2-3 day refeed, start raising my dietary fat levels.

How would this affect body composition (i.e. is a carb refeed necessary to upregulate hormones, prevent LBM loss and avoid fat gain)?

Thanks for any input.

You're asking about the difference between the standard ketogenic diet and the cyclical and targeted ketogenic diets.

Whether a re feed is necessary depends on if and how you're training.

I'm weight training, 3 times per week. Optimising for fat loss and LBM preservation. I'm familiar with CKD.

I'm actually asking if a carb refeed is necessary for Category 1 dieters (<15% bf) after 10 days of RFL, as Kyle recommends, or if it's different if transitioning to ketosis instead of back to a non-ketotic diet?

I'd wrap up RFL as per the book and then move back into the SKD over rhe next week, yeah. You're saving yourself, what, a couple of days' deficit by skipping the re feed?

Would the refeed interrupt the transition into ketosis, forcing me to begin again? Or does it not work that way?

I don't have my copy of Ketogenic Diet handy, so my best answer is maybe.

My experience with tweaking these diets has been poor. n=1 here, but I would say either do RFL as it is written (with the refeed) or just set up the higher calorie SKD and run that from the start.

Is there some rush on that you want to RFL so badly?

No rush, but I saw it as a good way to begin a cut and contribute to keto-adaption by depleting glycogen. I'm just trying to decide between a carb refeed, or going straight into ketosis.
