Default Low hemoglobin on RFL...

I tried to donate blood after 2 weeks on RFL. They prick your finger to test your iron level before allowing a donation. Prior to RFL I was testing 13.5 and higher. My last test was 12.3, with 13.0 being they minimum amount allowed to donate.

Aside from eating less red meat, is there anything else that could cause a lowered hemoglobin level?

Pretty much what you hinted at with lessening of foods with B12 and folate.

Being that you arn't eating that much food on RFL and there isn't much variety, this makes sense.

Try to eat lean red meat if possible. I always try to on RFL as I feel better on red meat and it gives RFL some variety.

Otherwise, take a B12 and folic acid supplement.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get your ferritin tested as well. You can get it ordered online for around 20 dollars. Mine was tanked due to donating blood frequently and I got my levels back up in a couple months by eating more red meat and iron supplementation.
This to be a good product for these issues though you might need an additional iron supplement.
