Default Different reports on effects of Phytoestrogens, are all their effets the same?

Are Lignans, Isoflavins, Coumestans all the same in the effects they have?

I have read that they increase estrogen or help inhibit it. For example, Flax Seed Lignans & Flax Seed lignan extract both have information saying that they are good at reducing estrogen, that they promote increase in estrogen, or that they cause symptoms of increased estrogen in the body.

Would a I3c & Flaxseed extract supplement work to decrease estrogen?

The effects of phytoestrogens depend completely on the current degree of estrogenic signalling.

They bind to the estrogen receptor with greater strength than estrogen
But send a weaker signal

So, if estrogenic signalling is high, phytoestrogens will LOWER overall signalling. they block normal estrogen but send a weaker signal

If estrogenic signalling is LOW, they will increase estrogenic signalling by sending *some* signal (always more than nearly no signal).

They are complicated

IC3 and DIM are garbate, they affect this minor metabolic pathway that has jack squat to do with what people think of estrogen doing. Important for breast cancer, irrelevant for anytihng else

Exactly. DIM just aids in the metabolism of bad estrogens AFAIK. Does nothing to lower estrogen. I tried 200mg daily for a month to see if it has any impact on estradiol. None at all.

The people writing about this stuff saw 'detoxifies bad estrogen' and that was it. it's a tiny pathway of a minor metabolite
