Would it not be optimal for things like ensuring you get enough protein in for the day, or are you speaking about something else?

You're right that it may not be optimal to get everything in. I was referring to some minor MPS and MPB advantages when spreading meals. Lyle mentions it somewhere, but I'm not sure where.

Gotcha, thanks Determinism.

I've been doing the 1 meal a day for a half year and getting on really well with it (had quite a large weight to shift) so just got concerned that I was doing something detrimental to my health.
