Default Why is clen not used to treat obesity?

Just out of curiosity - when it comes to medical treatment of obesity, why is clen not used? assuming no background heart disease, hypertention, etc.

Presumably, if you've made it this far in life, you're aware that prescription of medications is heavily regulated by government bodies. Doctors can only prescribe within guidelines.

For a drug to be prescribed for treatment of a certain condition, there needs to be sufficient clinical testing in support of its use for that purpose. Clen's off-label use as a weight loss aid does not have such a level of clinical testing behind it.

So that's why it's NOT used. But it would be nice if some funding were poured into running clinical trials testing this usage, that one day it could be prescribed.

I think the question is much broader than one specific compound. It is interesting for a lot of (ab)used supplements/drugs across a spectrum of wanted and unwanted (side)effects.

Right.

There's a lot of stuff out there that has all kinds of useful off label uses and yet can't be marketed or prescribed as such because no trials.

E.g. acrivastine as a sleep aid,

Yeah, there's a lot of potential laying around. Also, there's a lot of money involved. Hardly anything progresses with the idea of truly helping move humanity forward. Instead, the main driver is money "these days" (hasn't it always been?).

As our fellow forum member always said: "Oh well."

It's not even approved to treat asthma and this is a dumb question.

As has pretty much been said:

1) It isn't targeted for weight loss and effects other systems
2) Hasn't been tested. FDA is super picky.
3) Black market use has probably tarnished its reputation
4) Think there has been a couple examples of people dying by using too much aka its evil and needs to be heavily regulated. Think steroids, ephedrine, etc.
