Default 1 exercise multiple sets vs 1 set multiple exercises

Say 3 sets of 10 of bench presses against a set of bench presses, a set of incline presses and a set of decline presses.

Which is best? Is the former more demanding because of repetitive stress?

Which is best is a broad question to ask. Best relative to what?

For a beginner who is still practicing the movements, my guess would be that it would be better to do the 3 sets of bench in order to learn that movement more quickly. It would also be a hassle to load and unload the plates three times.

I would say, as a general rule, 'the best' is usually more a manner of balance and less of extremes. even the extreme workouts that work are balanced for their users.
