I have absolately experienced this.

Lyles mentions the stubborn fat zones when dieting sometimes gain fat deposits while you are using fat stores elsewhere.

For instance when I diet down my lower back will get extremely lean while my belly appears to swell.

It absolutely would not surprise me if those areas are putting fat on faster even if you aren't net storing fat at maintenance.

Something about agonists , alpha recepters, etc.

Perhaps using yohimbine prior to cardio would help while moving to maintenance
