The point of the program is progressive overload within the rep scheme. So, if you need to start with bands, as long as you are progressing to lighter bands then you are winning.

OR

Try a different grip -underhand, or neutral for e.g. Or narrow your grip if doing overhand. Or do pulldowns. Or don't do any and just do rows. Or lose weight.


Many options.

My reply had assumed that anyone who couldn't do a single pull up was either not an intermediate or too fat to bulk. I stand corrected.

The OP has been given lots of good advice in this thread, though.

The part about being too fat to bulk is often the case though. Don't let my nitpicking imply otherwise - there are always going to be counterexamples.
