Default Casein Subsititute

Lyle,

A quick question regarding slow-digesting proteins. I just browsed through the protein book (& forum) and could not find the answer i was looking for.

Since i can't have casein, i've been making sure i consume a decent amount of lean red meat meal on a daily basis with veggies (fiber) and some fat (avocados & guacamole ftw), etc.

Obviously casein has a very slow-digestion rate. I'd figure the red meat + veggies + fat would equal a very good alternative to someone who can't tolerate dairy. I seem to be doing just fine as well.

My question is, am i cool with my approach? I'm 95% sure the answer is yes and that it doesn't matter in the long scheme of things but i just want to double check.

If the answer is in the protein book and i missed it, just let me know lol.

Why can't you have casein?

But yes, whole food works fine.

unfortunately, i am one of those celiac dudes who response to casein like i do to gluten =/. (they both have a very similar molecular structure)

Most likely do to some leaky gut issues. Dairy in general gives me horrible migraines and "food intolerant" puffiness. Whey seems to do the same thing.

i never attempted to eat goat-based dairy products. I do know goat contains different types of casein compared to cow's dairy.

But the reason i'm calling a leaky gut issue is because i'm also intolerant to eggs, peanuts, legumes, soy (protein). even sweet potatoes/yams give me GI issues. I can tolerate white potatoes & gluten-free oats fine.

Don't chew the meat so well and that slows the digestion rate too, compared with well chewed meat. I think that was from an article on Lyle's site.

However if mixed with vegies and fat I wonder how much slower it would make it.

correction, whey is dairy, i meant to say all types of dairy protein give me issues. but these were all cow-based proteins. Has anyone had any experience with goat products?
