Default Which is "better" for body composition?

For my cheat meal, I have the option of drinking 200 ml of whiskey/vodka versus eating the same number of calories in ice cream (e.g. a mini blizzard). I am still not clear how alcohol itself affects body composition. I have seen studies which have shown that some of the calories in alcohol are "lost."

Ultimately I would like to maintain my muscle mass without adding too much fat. So would the alcohol be the better option? Also would it be possible to "fit" alcohol in my macros every day without negatively affecting body composition?

There is no cheat meal. It's a free meal. That means, a meal off the diet.

In this instance, you're talking about around 450 calories or so. That's irrelevant in the grand scheme, whether you're talking alcohol or ice cream. So do what you like, and don't allow yourself to become neurotic over it.

If you drink the alcohol, you might find it easier to justify eating the icecream as well. Then you are cheating.

My thoughts as well. Alcohol has it's place in a maintenance diet but in my opinion it "helps" you justify poor decisions, especially regarding food (and women).
