Is there a danger in correcting a muscle "imbalance" that may not be caused by differences in muscle strength per se but differences in leverage or mechanics?

For example, I have some structural imbalances I've been working on and improving for a while. My left pec seems smaller than my right (even though I work them the same, I'm weak enough to bench with DBs quite easily lol), I think because the left is tighter. My left shoulder is internally rotated more than my right, and my left shoulder is higher. I've been doing external rotation exercises and my left side is weaker than the right. But can I be sure that's really the muscle? Or does the left rotator cuff somehow have to work harder because it's in a poorer position (which it seems to be)? Maybe my left side is actually stronger, and then I might actually be making things worse either now or in the future when I work out some of my structural problems.

I assume such a situation is possible. So far, with all of my strength imbalances, I've just stuck to incorporating equivalent amounts of one-sided work.

I have one pec smaller than the other. I plan on doing the protocol you mentioned. I have a question though.

If I do this protocol on a cut --Since I will be giving up the chest press in favor of doing one arm pec deck...Will my strength go down significantly? Or is this best advised to do on a bulk or at maintenance?
