coffee with 50% more caffeine? I'll take it!
Why bother? Drink whatever coffee tastes best, and swallow the desired amount of cheap, generic, caffeine tablets with it.

We got this machine at work... it is about the size of a larger mini-fridge. Coffee beans sit in a funnel at the top. You press a button and it grinds the beans and brews the coffee and out comes the coffee ( about 20 seconds total ). Machine apparently costs like $10K but get it for free as long as we buy coffee from the the vendor. We have starbucks. Coffee is amazing .. beats the hell out of the toxic waste that people use to brew and would sit in pot for hours. I drink about 5 cups 8oz cups a day.. probably way too much !

I wonder if there was any study done on Caffeine intake and increase NEAT response. I thought it would make sense, it makes me jittery and want to move around all the time

I can't recall one but that doesn't meant it hasn't been done.

Anyone who ever had green coffee bean, either as coffee or as an extract?
Supposedly the next big thing after green tea.

I'd like to give it a try but not sure if I should grind them. I'd hate to muck up my good grinder. Green beans are very hard - I'm guessing hot water will not penetrate very far.

I'm surprised Yerba mate is not more popular outside of South America. Its also supposed to have more antioxidants than green tea.

Ok, I tried some green coffee:
-started with some Indonesian Sumatra
-grind to a coarse drip setting
-brew 5 minutes@195F

The color and taste is like weak tea. The smell is like green beans, a mix of grass and dirt.

I also tried brewing some whole beans, but after 5minutes@195F, there wasn't any noticeable color or taste in the water.

Funny. I've been on the hazelnut coffee kick for awHile now(eight o'clock is good) that regular coffee seems boring. Recently bought a big ole bag of Yerba mate at the local hippy store. Paid top price too. Hate it.
