lyle i read ur article and i just wnated to ask 1 question to u . U have writeen this
'Few bodyparts in my experience need more than two exercises (back is possibly an exception) in the first place and being able to do a zillion overlapping and redundant exercises is usually pointless for most trainees anyhow.

'my question is do u mean that body parts like chest for example u can just get away with 2 excercise like a incline bench and a chest press and the results will be the same(hypertrophy) ? as compared to adding a cable crossover or a peckdeck and a decline bench ?

and how many excercise according to u one needs to do for legs and back ?

iam asking this because here in our gym they give us the typical routine chest+delts+triceps =monday
back+biceps=wed
legs=friday

and for every body part there are atleast 4 excercise for example
chest=decline, incline, cable crossover, dips 2 sets of 8 to 10 reps

your suggestions would be helpfull as it will save a lot of time and energy for me .

responded to the thread... This is such a great article. Thank you so much for this reference. Now if you will only write a book about it!

I'm digging the higher frequency column

but to use that without being an idiot, volume control and willingness to perform a shorter work out would have to be accepted...

but it seems like a smart way to maybe load the arms/delts a bit heavier (weight, not volume) once a week, and then do the pump stuff following chest/back on the upper day

i've wondered if anyone has made a volume controlled 6 day a week thing work, on a related note. chest/back, legs/abs, arms/delts, off, repeat. anyone on this forum?

again volume control would be tough...too tempting to go ballistic arnold style

great read Lyle thanks!
