I would go with the theory that words like Celtic and Cicero retained their original Latin pronounciation and in some contexts hard "c" can still be used. Same goes for "Thucydides", in Greek there is "k" but it has been latinized with "c" and became softened in popular usage.

This is my favorite part -- actually make it fun: In the past 5 weeks of training, I havenít done a single workout that was exhausting or even particularly difficult. Skating is always fun, mind you, the rest of my training is simply boring. But itís not hard.

It's a cheese grater, really.

Too funny!

I think 'V' looks more Russian despite the fact that American Smirnov ice is malt based instead of Vodka.

There is some mad Clan blood at work in you somewhere McDonald and that face paint is the Clan warpaint roots coming out. I think that has been my fave article so far, yes the others are useful , but that had a real live adrenalin rush to it.

It reminded me of that old film from the 70s with James Cann Rollerball, death on wheels, all we needed was the motorbike and the Tokyo team to turn up.

My heart was hammering just reading that. Thrilling stuff and a take home message to boot.

The Rollerball remake was terrible.

I was taken as a 14 year old to see the original back in the day , the martial arts combined with the skating and that steel ball was all I needed as a life philosophy... I never saw the remake. Nostalgia

Looking forward to when you actually do RACE

I'd skate rollerball if it were a real sport.

I actually tried out for one of those silly inline sport shows that was around when Gladiators came out. My friend and I didn't make it on.

And don't see the remake, it will ruin the whole experience for you. Just an awful awful film that removed all that was great about the original and replaced it with LL Cool J's abs.

I had no idea there were inline skating races, and even in my state.
Congrats on 2nd place, that was a fun read.
