Default Doesn't seem like I'm losing anything

I started the diet last Tuesday, and while I have had the immediate shrinking effect, the scale is not down that many pounds. Starting to get discouraged.

Its only been 5 days...weight loss is rarely linear for most people...just keep at it. it is likely water retention that is making it seem like your not losing any weight. You may notice a sudden drop in weight after your refeed. (referred on here as a 'whoosh') Use the search function and type in whoosh as it has been discussed a million times.

could also be salt intake or menstrual cycle too...

You want to lose fat and maintain LBM. Total body weight not going down is not a concern, if fat lbs are going down. That's why Lyle explains how to find your bodyfat% in the book.

It could also be the time of day that the weight is being measured. Bodyweight must be measured in the morning on an empty stomach before ingesting anything and after going to the bathroom. Your will be much harder to track, if it's measured later in the day. A full bladder and/or full stomach could add a few lbs.

Yep. I'm very strict. Sometimes I do worry that I'm not getting in enough protein a day, but I don't have an appetite and I work & go to school so I'm busy but that didn't hinder me before from losing fast.

I don't understand what you mean by water balance. Water weight? Because I drink water like crazy.

I typed in whoosh and didn't find anything. It's not the menstrual cycle. I do usually gain around that time of the month but naturally lose it immediately after.

Let me give you an advice.

First, read the book. Then, if you have some question, read it again. Then ask.

I read the book and did the diet about 2 years ago. I lost a lot of weight. I've reread the book since, am on the diet again, and don't know what's going wrong or if I'm just being impatient. Before when I was on the diet I was losing weight so fast my family was concerned. Now I'm not budging.
