HDL: More Always Equals Better?
My question regarding this got buried in an older thread, but I'm curious about HDL and its affect on CVD; although I recognize that CVD is very complex with activity, genetics, and a host of other factors being pertinent too. I always thought higher HDL numbers were always better than lower HDL numbers, and I recall one article saying an HDL>100 had a Methuselah-like effect resulting/corresponding with a very long life. But then a Canadian study said the benefits of HDL was U-shaped with both low and HIGH HDL numbers resulting in greater heart disease.
Is there any reliability or truth to this?
