Default Lyle: Search function needs to be changed ASAP

Lyle, not sure if you know this, but the caption thing you need to fill in to do a search is virtually impossible to use.

I don't have the problem anymore now that I'm registered but a lot of people I'm referring to the site are finding it impossible to search. That = loss in sales for you ultimately.

Know you're probably busy but you need to change it as soon as you get a moment. I'm not a tech guy so I don't know how to modify these things but I'm sure you'll find someone here who can help you do it.

Thanks a lot.

Where?
On the forums, I went to the search menu and typed in "caption" (given that your post has it in there, seems like an easy find).
Did the search, no issues, it found your post.

Went to the main bodyrecomposition.com page, typed "protein" into the search in the upper right, hit enter, found lots of hits (no way).

The only "caption thing" I can think of is the "captcha" which I can't find on any searches, but only recall it as part of the signup process.

More details?

danb: tell your friends to put "site:forums.lylemcdonald.com" in their google search strings and they won't need to worry about captchca's

I think what DanB is referring to is the "Image Verification" process have to do when doing searches when not logged in...but then again, you have to be logged in to post on the forum. So do searches while logged in and you shouldn't have a problem. Tell your browser to remember you user name and password.

The image verification is quite difficult to get correct, but you only have to do it once when registering. I think it's a small price to pay to gain access to these forums.

The forum search function doesn't work well. For instance I wanted to search "EOD Refeed" which has been discussed here in the past. I basically just wanted to find the thread. This is the error I received:

"The search term you specified (EOD) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.
If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific."

Basically anything under 4 characters in your search and it will return nothing.

Not every visitor is going to know this.

If everyone should do what you are saying - you tell me why this board is still offering a search functionality?
