Under certain contexts/circumstances I can believe it being beneficial (someone who is dieting, training fasted, etc.).
However, for an individual that is already eating an excess of calories within regularly spaced meals, what difference would a protein+carb drink really make?
Obviously I haven't looked at the studies, but feel free to point to one that was conducted under the latter circumstances.
