Default Keto diet vs PSMD diet

Good morning,
I have read about keto Diet and PSMD diet. According to many websites the PSMD diet is more effective than the keto diet.

I don't understand why.

1) Both diets recommend a specific daily intake of protein to spare the muscle loss (so, on this matter, they should be equally effective)

2) The weight that can be shred depends on the DAILY intake of calories vs daily maintenance calories.
If the deficit adopted in the 2 diets is the same, BOTH diets should produce the same weight loss.

Am I missing something here?

Thank you

The deficit is no the same by any stretch

Protein sparing modified fast is protein and little else

Keto diet is protein and variable amounts of fat.

Thank you for your answer.
Apologies for not being clear.

My daily intake is 1500 calories (20% less than maintenance) for weight loss.

I can split 1500 calories according to the keto macro principles (more fat)
OR
I can split 1500 according to the PDMS macro principles (more protein)

The total calories intake/day is still identical. Only the macro split changes .
That's why I get lost
