Week 21-23

After five to six weeks in the low one eighties, I finally broke into the high one seventies. It's near impossible to follow a structured diet at the moment so I'm pretty much eating low carb low fat with about five free meals a week and some intermittent fasting thrown in.

Week 27-29

Winding down the busy season. It was hard to stick to any weight loss strategy during this time but logging here helped me maintain, or slightly decrease, my weight over the past couple of months.

Week 30-32

Started eating more than meat, veg and a couple of free meals. Also started eating more than 2 to 3 meals per day. All this cause I'm angling towards a full diet break in preparation for a structured diet stint.

Week 33-34.5

The diet break was more than a little haphazard and the only thing I know for sure is that I ate at least a hundred carbs each day. Really enjoying being back in the diet head-space after two weeks of scrambling for foothold. I now have fewer meals to think about and just a single macro-nutrient to focus on hitting.

Week 34.5-35

Dropped a little more water weight.

WGT -1.5 lbs

After 35 weeks of trying to settle on a dieting strategy that I'm able to stick to for an appreciable amount of time, I've found one that may work given my circumstances.

I'll have a free meal every fifth day with calorie restriction during the intervening days and meals. So an eight day "week" with a free meal on Day 1 & 5 and calorie restriction on Days 2-4, 6-8 and most of 1 & 5.

WK I of this was a bit of a disaster due to little to no meal time and content planning, but I'm moving into the following "weeks" in an increasingly more orderly fashion.

WK I +3.0 lbs

D1 ? plus free meal
D2 79p 6c 9f
D3 84p 6c 24f
D4 89p 49c 25f

From the carb spike on D4, I've concluded that I really need something sweet to get me through the calorie-restricted days so I'll allow for up to three cups of plain hot chocolate per day. The drink I use will cost me less than 25 calories per day and I'll skip the sugar to keep the carbs low.

If you need something sweet you should experiment with some sugar free syrups, they really change hot chocolate and coffee into something extra indulgent. Walden's farms and skinny syrups have some reeeeally nice ones.

That's a possibility I had considered but sugar substitutes in drinks tend to exacerbate my sugar cravings. The plain hot chocolate option takes the edge off enough to see me through to the free meals where I get to properly indulge my sweet tooth.

D5 69p 11c 18f plus free meal
D6 86p 12c 44f
D7 87p 6c 25f
D8 88p 8c 27f

It dawned on me that I haven't been counting the fat in the cooking oil I prepare some of my meals with so switched to up to nine 1 cal spritzes per day. Overdid the free meal but I should have better control at the next one since the plain hot chocolate is doing a good job of taking the edge off cravings during diet days. Water intake is currently at 75% of where it should be so I'll pay more attention to that. Overall, much less trying 'week' compared to WK I or the previous 35 during which I essentially maintained my weight.

WK II -3.0 lbs
