Default Restricting calls = cravings, do cardio for deficit instead?

I'm finding my appetite ravenous from dieting and restricting. Going too long leads to the occasional binge undoing some pretty hard work. I don't do cardio but I do lift 2-3x per week. If I were to raise my calories to maintenance (or slightly below) and start doing cardio to create the caloric deficit, do you think my cravings would be less or since I would still be creating a deficit via cardioi the cravings will still be there?

Why don't you try it and see? Everyone is different, some people find cardio suppresses their appetite and others find it makes them hungrier.

Sure everyone is different but I was curious about people's opinions if they tried it both ways

It has been my experience that the cravings are still there. I lift 3x/week and commute to work on a bicycle, so 1-1.5 hrs per day cardio. Once I get to a certain level of leanness, cravings are there.

Thank you. I didn't think about it this way but it makes sense, I guess metabolic adaptations would still get greater the leaner you got regardless how you got there. Would you say you eat at maintenance?

Does anyone know if there's an article on the main site that touches on this subject or a good thread?

Personally, cardio makes me more hungry, except not while I'm doing it. Makes it harder to recover from lifting. I think it's easier to restrict cals.
