For goodness sake. Just stretch a little each day, gradually trying to improve range of motion in whatever muscles you're stretching.

You don't need a special tailored program and you DEFINITELY don't need yoga.

Go read Stretching Scientifically by the great Thomas Kurtz
People are neurotic, nothing new..

We need a program that ensures progressive overload (stretchiness) over time so we can be awesome in other aspects of life.

If you have the time and inclination, I second the recommendation for yoga:

Guided classes
Chance for hilarity as people occasionally pass gas or instructor surprises you with 'dragon face' as you sit in the front row.
Women - if you are into that sort of thing
The stretchier you get the more cred you get - kinda weird coming from a strength focus

Men get more cred for stretchiness. Women are expected to be stretchy. When I do the splits, people, men and women alike, are just like woahhhhhh. Like it's some incredible feat of preternature

Well, if I saw you do that I would privately be impressed. Of course, I couldn't express that in public, because I am a man, and I can't be seen giving another man props for stretchiness, but, all the same, I would be impressed. And I am confident you would be privately very smug with your accomplishment and happy that another man is not publicly praising your ability to stretch.
