Default 5/3/1 program & UD 2.0

Hey everybody,

I just finished reading UD 2.0 (Great book) & was wondering if anybody has had experience combining Jim Wendler's 5/3/1 regiment while on the UD 2.0? I was considering doing both diet plan & regiment. Would the volume of Jim's program or the dieting of the UD 2.0 be too much? I really don't have any goals but the typical drop body fat% & maybe pull a PR or two lol. Also if there's any critiques or suggestions of what I'm doing that would be awesome too. Thanks!

UD2 is a very specific program and you should do what the book says.

On a side note I don't get why people get are so in love with this program and the guy. There's also so much macho rubbish in the book, like the only way to loose fat is to sprint up hills, he even recommends a powerlifter to sprint up hills even when not weight cutting. Seriously if you are a powerlifter just lift (which is like short sprinting anyway), mod cardio if you want and monitor diet.

Because people need and want to believe in something.

I don't get why more people don't realize it's an uncredited ripoff of BiggerFasterStronger. 'specially since BFS has been around for 30 years and is in thousands of high schools and hundreds of collegiate sports programs, and most of the PL types are washed-up Football players. IMO everything that's actually good and valuable in Wendler's plagiarization was actually in the original program from BFS.

At least Rippetoe is upfront about nothing being really "new" in his program, and about crediting his sources. Wendler does neither, acting like he "invented" 5/3/1.

Back to the OP, if you want to do UD2, just do UD2.

I love how people come onto a UD forum and ask UD supporters how to change the program.
