Default Cardio in UD2.0 compared to RFL

I just started reading the UD2.0 book, and it struck me how different it is to RFL with regard to the amount of cardio allowed, so I was just wondering why that is.

In RFL, it is recommended to do very little cardio at all, mostly because the calories are so low and you don't want to do too much and start burning muscle for fuel.

But in the 3-4 days of depletion in UD2, you are allowed 45-60min of moderate cardio per day, on top of doing the depletion workouts. So why are you allowed so much more cardio in UD2 during this phase?

Although calories are lower in RFL, they aren't that much lower... maybe 900-1000 calories per day on RFL versus 1200 or so on UD2 on depletion days. The extra calories burned during the cardio probably make up for that difference. So why doesn't the extra cardio hurt progress on UD2, like it does in RFL?

Just curious.

My guess:

massive carbload as opposed to RFL refeed

more fat and cho allowed daily on UD2

The difference is not that big as you shouldn't be doing a bunch of cardio during the UD2 depletion phase either. And the depletion phase is just a few days and then you enter an anabolic phase. The depletion phase sets you up for the anabolic phase.

Without wanting to start another thread, I figured I could throw my question here;

I'm going on week 5 tomorrow. Results are kinda underwhelming and I haven't been doing any cardio at all. Is this a mistake? Should I be doing cardio if I am not seeing results?
