Default Maintenance w/ Refeeds

Ok, so I was reading in Lyle's "GtFD" book and he mentions that refeeds during long term maintenance can be utilized. Can you explain this? Also, while doing a refeed during maintenance, do you follow the same guidelines that you would if you were dieting? I am currently on a maintenance regime and have been now for a few months, I do have the occasional "free meal", but as far as a refeed I don't go to that extreme. Should I perhaps change this or continue on with what I am doing?

I was wondering how refeeds during maintenance can be beneficial? I would assume that since a person is not really in a carb deficit during maintenance, that refeeds are simply for psychological reasons. Is this correct?
Then I was also asking that when using refeeds during maintenance, if the same guidelines apply as if you were dieting. That is, taking in excess carbs for a certain period of time.

refeeds are probably better than binging out on 100% crapfood in terms of fat-gain and anxiety.

No.

Even at maintenance, if you're well below setpoint, hormones are not going to be optimal. Refeeds can help with that. in addition to psychological effects.

OK, that makes sense. Right now I am at 2100 +- kcal/day.
Prot - 40%
Carb - 35%
Fat - 25%
(These are within a few % either way)

I am not sure how far below setpoint I may be, but given the situation when doing a refeed which one would be the most beneficial to a CAT 1 as myself, in your opinion? Would I go by the guidelines your laid out in your book (5 hr every 3 - 5 days or 1 - 2 days every 7 days) or by another method since I am in maintenance?
Hope I am not being too bothersome with this. I have searched the other threads and couldn't find mention of this. Thanks in advance for your time and input.
