![]() Is it possible to alter the structure of facial bones as an adult?
E.g.: Moving the maxilla and/or mandibular forward or expanding them. If I understood it correctly: - epiphyseal fusion at the end of puberty only happens for long bones, not for flat bones - therefore feet, hands, ears and some facial bones can continue to grow under certain circumstances, for example acromegaly - jaw bones can also still change by becoming thicker - if gentle pressure (e.g. by pressing the tongue against the palate) is applied to facial bones over a long time frame, they might adapt accordingly, given there's no limiting factor like Ca levels, hormones or stress Also: A symptom of acromegaly is a protruding jaw, so it must be possible to change the jaw bones even in adults. But using GH to get a better jawline probably isn't the most sensible thing to do. You probably haven't heard of orthotropics/"mewing" so far: basically it's about having correct oral posture (tongue pressed against the palate, teeth together), correct swallowing patterns and breathing through the nose. It sound pretty plausible, but doing this wont change anything after puberty right? |

![]() No idea. This probably isn't the best forum, let alone, sub forum for this type of question. I 'guess' it applies to 'training' your jaw, but, really?
Probably quickest way would be to go see a plastic surgeon. Get face broken, repair how you want? |
