Cool and thanks. I found the refined grain bit especially interesting. I have that book you mentioned on a Christmas list. If it doesn't show up on the 25th I'll pick it up anyway.

Lyle, it seems like the last part of this sentence from the article is missing:
"A number of studies have shown that extensive static stretching done immediately prior to various types of exercise performance such as vertical jumping, sprinting and weightlifting." |

Got it, thank you

Once I got over the confusion about a study looking at static stretching in Paleo man, I really enjoyed this research review. When looking at the writers on the "paleo diet," I've noticed an uncanny similarity between their own food and exercises preferences and what "Paleo" man did.
One thing that gets my goat is the advice not to do "long slow cardio" because "Paleo man" mostly needed to sprint to get away from predators. If we evolved to sprint, why are we so bad at it, compared to almost anything that would want to eat us? |

And, if you look at reality, man often ran animals for long durations to exhaustion to kill them. We evolved to run. Not sprint.
But most of the paleo goons seem to confuse what neandertal man (big, musclely, stupid) might have been with what humans evolved from (small, physically pretty poor but big brains). But yes, paleo-whatever has basically become synonymous with 'I'm going to rationalize my own biases about diet/training'. |

And the sprint thing fails the reality check anyhow but logic is not big among the paleo folks.
The fastest man on the planet (Bolt) tops out at 27 mph A cheetah tops out at 70mph Any human who tried to sprint away from a predator would be mulched in about 2 seconds. And that's with a 1 second head start. |

Humans basically suck at all things except one: being very very smart.

A) your books, B) your articles, or C) already covered ad nauseum in other threads. They are very very lazy, and quite possibly stupid. |
