Default Renaissance periodization program

Hey guys,

So i bought the advanced training template from rennaisance periodization for a 5 day split and it set things up pretty differently.

The split is:
Upper - chest focus
Lower - quad focus
Upper - back focus
Lower - glute and ham focus
Upper - arm and delt focus

So instead of doing all upper body starting with chest pressing .. each upper day starts with whatever is the focus muscle .. like on day 5 the workout starts with bis and tris and then goes into selts.. and last in the workout is back and chest.. arms are also hit only once a week.. i dont love the program at all.. according to the articles these guys write i figured it would be more volume.. like arms only get hit with 4 sets a week.. and doing arms shoulders back and chest in that order!? Any thoughrs? Anyone buy the program and know what i mean?

Seems like just taking lyles upper lower and adding and upper day which is what ive been doing is the best way to go

I've taken look at some rp diet and training programmes and very much not a fan. Would go with your 2nd suggestion of lyle's routine modified. Eric helms' muscle and strength pyramid booklets are much better and gove you principles you can apply to any set up. I think the rp guys have some interesting ideas esp CWS but their male physique template and their food templates are downright..uh..dull.

I've considered getting a male physique template to check it out, but perhaps I won't now.

I'm also a big fan of Eric's Pyramids. Really solid books. They also have some example training programs in them.

The volume auto-regulates. So you might start out with only 4 sets for arms, but it'll start going up when you rate the workouts as easy.

^ ehh still.. even if the volume goes up, the frequency doesn't.. so arms are still only hit once a week.. I;m not a fan at all

Do the chest days have any direct triceps exercises?
Do the back days have any direct biceps exercises?
